Douglas Shindler is a junior painting/drawing and photography double major at Purchase College, SUNY.  He was born and raised in Sullivan County, NY, where he began to develop an eye for the arts and a yearning for something greater, not only for himself, but for his hometown as well.  Douglas’ photographic work deals with the struggles of growing up and living life in a rural, desolate and viciously impoverished area such as Sullivan County.  Shindler’s photography and painting aim to allow others to see and understand the hardships of daily life in rural poverty.
