Andrea Calderón, 26, is a 2019 graduate at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, where she majored in Environmental Science and Policy with a focus in Political Science. After graduating, Andrea worked as a Staffer in the U.S. House of Representatives. She was then awarded a Fulbright Teaching Grant in the Czech Republic. She began her MIA graduate studies at SIPA this fall and is confident the MS in Journalism will complement her studies at SIPA as a dual-degree student. As a Pickering Fellow, Andrea will work as a Foreign Service Officer (FSO) after graduating.
Andrea is excited to apply the skills she gains at Columbia to effectively represent the USA internationally as a diplomat. She was raised in Houston, Texas, but has strong ties to her Mexican heritage.
