The Steidl Bookculture library opened at The Gordon Parks Foundation in 2020 in celebration of the foundation’s ongoing partnership with Steidl. Encompassing more than 1,000 Steidl art and photography books, the collection includes out of print and limited-edition publications that are rarely seen or often inaccessible to scholars and the public. Additionally, the collection offers an opportunity for an in-depth study of photobooks as multiples, book design, typography, printing processes, and binding. The library includes works by some of the most significant artists and photographers across history including, in addition to Gordon Parks, Bernice Abbott, William Eggleston, Robert Frank, Karl Lagerfeld, and Dayanita Singh, among many others.
The Gordon Parks Foundation welcomes researchers to the the Steidl Library by appointment only. For research inquiries and appointments, please email info@mkfound.org.
