George Lucas’ devotion to timeless storytelling and cutting-edge innovation has resulted in some of the most successful and beloved films of all time. His company, Lucasfilm Ltd., garnered over 100 Academy award nominations and more than 40 Oscars and special achievement awards prior to being acquired by the Walt Disney Company in 2012. His research and development led to the first digital editing system (which later became AVID) and the Pixar Computer, which led to Pixar Animation Studios. Taking a philanthropic leadership role in applying his technical and storytelling expertise to the classroom, Lucas founded the George Lucas Educational Foundation (Edutopia.org) in 1991 to highlight proven strategies, tools, and resources for creating lifelong leaners.
